Message from cindy sackett, our executive director

To the Invest in Youth Community:

As I look back on what we have accomplished during the past year-and-a-half, I am humbled, grateful and hopeful.

Consistently and repeatedly, our community has come forward to provide Invest in Youth with critical insight, creative solutions and the all-important funding to ensure our organization continues to thrive.

School administrators, teachers, volunteers and board members have devoted countless additional hours to advance our outreach. Donors – individuals as well as corporate sponsors and foundations – continue to contribute, with many increasing their financial commitments. Tutors signed-on each week with their students, navigating through new technology, to provide the much-appreciated one-on-one time.

On behalf of the students, I am deeply appreciative to each of you in your unwavering support.

Reflecting on the past 18 months and how we addressed the many challenges has brought newfound clarity to our work. We know our mission matters. We see first-hand that our programming results in student improvement for both academic progress and improved social skills.

We are hopeful the 2021-2022 school year will bring with it some normalcy. Discussions continue with each of our partner schools to determine when and how Invest in Youth will resume tutoring. We will use many of the successful strategies learned last year to serve as a valued resource for students and families, as well as tutors, to ensure a rewarding experience for everyone.

Both in-person and online tutoring will begin next month. As I write this letter, I am excited to report that one school has committed to in-person tutoring (which will follow all safety protocols of course) and discussions continue with the others. If you are a tutor and have not yet been contacted, please let me know and I can share more details.

We will continue to adapt to reach more students whom we could not serve before, in new ways not offered in the past. Above all else, with your support we are ready and able to help in any way needed.

With heartfelt and sincere gratitude,

Cindy Sackett
